New Age/Spirituality: “Restoring Oneness: The Butterfly Trilogy” by Petrus

“An inspirational discourse that speaks about man’s need
for a spiritual metamorphosis…”

Image

“Written in the voice of a Guru, Petrus aims at guiding the reader through the spiritual process to ultimately achieve inner peace and wisdom, thus emerging a new being in total harmony and unity with God and the Universe.”

– Anna Suanco, Swan Dancer Book Reviews

Until now we’ve held ourselves apart from the universe and lived in loneliness and fear. But the key to universal life is given back to us now, and each one of us is free to choose afresh. This inspirational book will serve as a guide to anyone seeking a clearer sense of personal choice as one age ends and a new one begins.
“Restoring Oneness” combines the influential spiritual volumes of “The Butterfly Trilogy” by Petrus. The first volume, “Ecstasy in Unity,” heralds the wondrous metamorphosis coming now to Earth, as we regain the realization that all things at their centre are One. Just as caterpillars become butterflies, those who crawl in separation can reconstitute themselves to fly in unity.  The second volume, “Sex in God,” discovers that sexuality is not opposed but rather native to divinity, and that our sexual desire is integral to universal development. The third volume, “Azimuth for New Earth,” further articulates personal and planetary transmutation, and tells how we will make the journey to a New Earth.

Petrus writes about humanity’s present passage from fear to love through the realization of God within ourselves. Born in Canada in 1958, he began a sustained practice of meditation at the age of 18. He pursued his education in the social sciences and a career in international and organizational development. The focus of his efforts shifted dramatically in 2001, when he first encountered sacred geometry, and began building and sleeping in a series of space-frames using fractal symmetry and the golden ratio (1.618…). These devices concentrate the life force and enable cosmic resonance. With their aid, the author shifted his awareness from separation to unity, and began to think and communicate from his higher self. Petrus composed the “Butterfly Trilogy” and his “Discourses” to share a new perspective on our experience as a journey from self-denial to self-realization.

Sharavogue
by Nancy Blanton

Published by iUniverse, 11/5/2012
eBook, paperback, hardcover

It is December of 1649 and England’s uncrowned king, Oliver Cromwell, leads his brutal army across Ireland to eliminate a violent rebellion. Fifteen-year-old Elvy Burke, the daughter of a great warrior, wants only one thing—to live her destiny as a leader and defender of her country. While waiting anxiously in her village, Elvy receives word that Cromwell and his cavalry are on the way. As she hears the thunderous hooves approaching, Elvy has already decided she will not give up easily.

When Cromwell cruelly beheads a village boy, Elvy vows to avenge the killing by destroying Cromwell. After fleeing from the general’s soldiers, Elvy aligns with a Scottish outlaw whose schemes send them headlong into a tumultuous journey across the sea to the West Indies, where she becomes an indentured servant for the fledgling sugar plantation Sharavogue. Knowing she will surely be killed if she attempts to escape, Elvy learns to survive in her new life—and soon discovers the depth of her own strengths and emotions.

Sharavogue is the compelling historical tale of one girl’s incredible journey through the lawless lands of the West Indies as she fights her way back to Ireland to confront her sworn enemy and claim her destiny.

PRAISE FOR SHARAVOGUE

Blanton has accomplished what I think all writers of good historical fiction should. She has accurately portrayed a time in history with a real flare, serendipitously teaching her readers as she keeps them utterly captivated with her characters. Her descriptions of places and events is so vivid that it is easy to imagine being on the sugar plantation or sailing across the ocean.

– LAS Reviewer

Blanton ranks right up there with Cornwell, Scarrow, and Rutherfurd in making history enjoyable and dare I say even exciting! Looking forward to further books from her.

– Amazon Reader Review

This book kept me up nights. Every time I thought I could put it down something happened that made me read on. A very enjoyable first novel.

For lovers of poetry and nature, read Linda Dickert’s collection, ‘The Mountains Belong to Me’

“Cries of coyotes, the croak of frogs and chirping of crickets exemplify the concertos of the Smoky Mountains. I appreciate the age-worn rocks’ accommodating a waterfall’s endless challenge. I hear gospel songs, and I can see myself clogging to great blue grass harmonies.”

Linda Dickert’s collection of poetry and prose celebrates life in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Her short essays, conversations, and inspirations draw from the happenings in the mountains of North Carolina,

sharing with readers the spirit of the Appalachians and instilling an appreciation for the natural world and our responsibility to protect and cherish it. Dickert gives readers an opportunity to reflect on their own environment and connection with nature.

All proceeds from this book will go to Spark Companions, a non-profit organization that helps individuals unable to pay for vet bills.

Esther Brown’s family is falling apart around her. Widowed and re-married with two daughters, Esther is unable to control her eldest daughter Geneva’s wayward ways and sends Geneva to live with her aunt and her aunt’s husband in Ivy Glen, a small town outside Chicago. Esther’s attempt to find salvation for her child sets in motion a series of dramatic events that tests the bonds of one family as they discover ‘Family Secrets.’

Based on fact, ‘Family Secrets’ is set in a 1920’s Chicago suburb and told from the perspectives of multiple family members. This dramatic tale has it all: passion, betrayal, deception, forgiveness and a glimpse into the unconditional ties that bind a family together.

A New Approach to Smoking Cessation: ‘Stop Smoking: Understanding the Machinery of the Learning System’ by Vern Benson

In his work, author Vern Benson defines the smoking problem, illuminating the reasons why resisting the urge to smoke is so often doomed to failure. He presents his program that is meant to guide the physical and mental machinery of the body, explaining how an individual can quit smoking by understanding the mechanics of both our body and mind to discover the “how” of the approach to smoking cessation.

Benson, former meteorologist, mathematician, and smoker, uses mathematics and science to explain how to break the habit of smoking. Benson’s new perspective is supported by examples to make the topic understandable, making his step-by-step system a powerful, logical resource that gently guides you to a successful end to your desire to smoke.

Appalachian Author Janie Mae McKinley’s “The Legacy of Bear Mountain”

Image

In ‘The Legacy of Bear Mountain: Stories of Old Mountain Values That Enrich Our Lives Today,’ Janie Mae recalls mountain life with her grandparents during the time her mother and father were involved in the war efforts of World War II. During those formative years, she absorbed her grandparents’ old-fashioned values and lifestyle. Although their secluded 1895 farmhouse lacked modern conveniences until 1975, they enjoyed a rich life of hard work, honesty, humor, gratitude, and faith. With amazing detail, Janie Mae, whose ancestors came to Bear Mountain in the 1700s, vividly recalls both humorous and scary stories, along with grandfather’s hard work on the railroad and her grandmother’s devout faith in God.

In honor of the reader’s own memories, a page at the end of each chapter is designed for individuals, families, small groups, or church classes to record and share their own family’s legacy.

A first-generation college graduate, Janie Mae Jones McKinley holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mars Hill College, Mars Hill, NC, and a M.A.Ed. in Community Agency Counseling from Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC. Having returned to her childhood roots, she lives on Bear Mountain with her husband, Larry. Because of having no heirs, she donated many of her grandparents’ antiques to the Mountain Heritage Center Museum on the Western Carolina University campus. These treasured artifacts will be used to teach future generations about mountain farm life before modern conveniences.

REVIEWS of THE LEGACY OF BEAR MOUNTAIN:

McKinley does a wonderful job of drawing her reader in and immersing them in mountain life…An excellent book, and an absolute read for fans of creative non-fiction. McKinley should be very proud of her work and her heritage, I hope to see more work from her in the future.
             – J. P. Dash

This is an incredibly detailed book; the author does an amazing job of showing us what her experiences on Bear Mountain were like…a very sentimental book, and the reader’s are allowed to go on that journey of remembering with the author. I believe that anyone who grew up in an area like that, or with family like that, would appreciate this book…I was touched by some of the stories in this book, and am glad to have had the chance to read it.

“Having never heard of the author or the book itself I went into it not knowing what to expect. What I found was breathtaking and I ended up devouring the book in a short amount of time.
This work is very descriptive so the images in your head become very clear. Also, it has amazing plot turns and twists that I never expected! This makes it hard to put down, and wanting to find out what happens as soon as possible.
At the very beginning I was stressed with a lot of information I didn’t think was useful, and I thought the book needed a lot of editing, but as you go on, you find out it really is helpful. Once you’re halfway done you’ll end up deducing things on your own thanks to the beginning.
I’d definitely recommend this book. ”
