Book Hub Highest Recommendation – Journey of Promise: West From Sempringham By Charles W. Allen

Book Description:

What did Thomas Jefferson believe about the divine purpose of the United States of America? What compelling role did the Puritans play in setting the stage for the American Revolution? What profound affect did Native Americans have on the forming of our constitution? All of these questions and much more are answered in this fascinating work. Little known information is contained within these pages about the beginnings of our country through the founding of the Massachusetts Bay Company in Sempringham, England.
Journey of Promise covers the highlights of events that led to Puritan England and New England, and ultimately the founding of the United States of America. Included are several short biographies of key Puritans including Henry Dunster, first President of Harvard University, Anne Bradstreet, first American poet and elect lady, and John Elliott, apostle to the Native Americans.
Charles also sheds light on four of our founding fathers, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin and their religious beliefs and influences on our nation.
If you want to learn detailed knowledge about the people who founded and believed in this nation that is not taught in schools and is not widely published, this book is a valuable addition to your personal library.

The Amazing Tale of Being ‘Switched at Birth: My Life in Someone Else’s World’ by Fredrick J. George

Frederick George grew up in Dunedin, New Zealand where he attended an Irish Catholic school. At twenty-six, George joined the army and came to the U.S.A. where he met and married his wife. George has two children and a grandson and lives in Pembroke, Massachusetts.

Publisher: Frederick J. George Publishing
Publication Date: 4/17/2013
ISBN-13(e-book): 9780615796895
Price: $9.00

After inexplicably being placed in the wrong bassinet at the city hospital where I was born, I grew up with a nagging feeling of somehow not belonging, and a father who always suspected I was not his. I lived another’s life and he mine, our paths amazingly crossing throughout the years, until 57 years later I discovered the truth. This is the story of my life in someone else’s world, my quest for answers, and how I’ve come to terms with the hand which fate has dealt me.” – Fred George, Author. This is a story about two boys who, at birth, were inexplicably switched, a switch that would dramatically change the author’s life in every aspect—religion, ethnicity, economics, and culture. Time and time again, the two boys’ paths cross with one another’s before ultimately discovering, decades later, that they aren’t who they spent their whole lives believing they were. At 57, Fred George sees his birth family for the first time, recognizing in them his own mannerisms and traits. George’s retelling of his switch at birth is not so much an account of the switch itself, but rather the story of his life from birth to present with the George family. The story is interesting and insightful, complete with family photos that provide readers with an inside view of the culture and of the times of George’s life.

DISCOVER THE KEY TO UNIVERSAL LIVING: ‘Restoring Oneness: The Butterfly Trilogy’ by Petrus

Until now we’ve held ourselves apart from the universe and lived in loneliness and fear. But the key to universal life is given back to us now, and each one of us is free to choose afresh. This inspirational book will serve as a guide to anyone seeking a clearer sense of personal choice as one age ends and a new one begins.

B1 e-book 13Jan05.qxd

“Restoring Oneness” combines the influential spiritual volumes of “The Butterfly Trilogy” by Petrus. The first volume, “Ecstasy in Unity,” heralds the wondrous metamorphosis coming now to Earth, as we regain the realization that all things at their centre are One. Just as caterpillars become butterflies, those who crawl in separation can reconstitute themselves to fly in unity.  The second volume, “Sex in God,” discovers that sexuality is not opposed but rather native to divinity, and that our sexual desire is integral to universal development. The third volume, “Azimuth for New Earth,” further articulates personal and planetary transmutation, and tells how we will make the journey to a New Earth.

‘One Christian’s Perspective of Man’s Dilemma God’s Solution’ by Steve Lampman

People today consider many different things as constituting man’s dilemma—health problems, unemployment, poverty, crime, war, and so on. Each, of course, is a problem found in every society, excluding none. One could say man’s dilemma is universal.  However, each of the things listed above is actually the result of man’s dilemma, and not the cause. The cause is found in man’s depravity. In that depravity, every un-regenerated human being sets his own standard for conducting his life. Man has rejected the absolute standard of his creator, and as a result is alienated not only from God, but from his fellow man. Man has no solution for this and therein lies the dilemma. God, on the other hand, has the solution; it is found in His provision, the Lord Jesus Christ.  In the pages of this work the author considers man’s dilemma God’s solution from eleven different perspectives. Each chapter is a study in itself but fits nicely as one completed work.

One Christian's_Front Cover

Steve Lampman became a Christian on November 17, 1961 when as a young marine on liberty he came upon a street meeting held by Open Air Campaigners for Christ in the city of Los Angeles, California. For the remaining three years of his enlistment after coming to faith, Steve immersed himself in various books and studies concerning his relationship with Christ. During those three years, he worshipped in Los Angeles and was discipled by three families who were members of Granada Heights Friends Church and nurtured his faith. It was the foundation gained in those years that sustained him through several tumultuous years during which he walked away from a faithful walk with the Lord and lived as a prodigal son.

For lovers of poetry and nature, read Linda Dickert’s collection, ‘The Mountains Belong to Me’

“Cries of coyotes, the croak of frogs and chirping of crickets exemplify the concertos of the Smoky Mountains. I appreciate the age-worn rocks’ accommodating a waterfall’s endless challenge. I hear gospel songs, and I can see myself clogging to great blue grass harmonies.”

Linda Dickert’s collection of poetry and prose celebrates life in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Her short essays, conversations, and inspirations draw from the happenings in the mountains of North Carolina,

sharing with readers the spirit of the Appalachians and instilling an appreciation for the natural world and our responsibility to protect and cherish it. Dickert gives readers an opportunity to reflect on their own environment and connection with nature.

A New Approach to Smoking Cessation: ‘Stop Smoking: Understanding the Machinery of the Learning System’ by Vern Benson

In his work, author Vern Benson defines the smoking problem, illuminating the reasons why resisting the urge to smoke is so often doomed to failure. He presents his program that is meant to guide the physical and mental machinery of the body, explaining how an individual can quit smoking by understanding the mechanics of both our body and mind to discover the “how” of the approach to smoking cessation.

Benson, former meteorologist, mathematician, and smoker, uses mathematics and science to explain how to break the habit of smoking. Benson’s new perspective is supported by examples to make the topic understandable, making his step-by-step system a powerful, logical resource that gently guides you to a successful end to your desire to smoke.

Book Review: Award Winning “Man’s Greatest Fear: The Final Phase of Human Evolution” by Dr. Thomas M. Lister, Ed.D.

Image

Heralded as thought-provoking, insightful, and highly recommended for all audiences by all readers, Lister’s work is timely in regards to both global politics and environmental issues. It has been said that anyone interested in the human condition or the fate of mankind should read this book.

Here’s what the most recent reviewer has said of Man’s Greatest Fear:

Overall, I feel this was a very insightful and interesting read. There were some points that I hadn’t thought of before that taught me a great deal. I believe this is a great reading choice for both men and women. . . Each point made was concise, backed up by evidence and research, and very well expressed. I would recommend this book to anyone who is either interested in gender roles, male thought patterns and actions, or the human condition. This is not light reading, and for that, it was a refreshing break from mundane everyday fiction novels and I enjoyed it immensely.
– Megan S.

Sandra Sanchez, from the US Review of Books, has said that “if you read for enlightenment and care about the future of human civilization, this book is a very important part of your necessary study of history. RECOMMENDED.” She goes on to conclude that “our only hope of correcting the destruction, violence and hatred of several millennia is in understanding the psychological peregrinations that have led to it and, through that understanding, find the cure for the ills of human civilization.”

“He speaks with authority on everything from early man’s biological imperative to control and conquer his environment to modern man’s global territorial battles, our world wars,” recalls Sheila Trask of ForeWord Reviews. “This second edition of Man’s Greatest Fear brings the examples up-to-date, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as man’s apparent war against the environment.” Lister explains his 28-point plan “aimed at changing the political landscape” of our society. “Well-documented, thorough, and provocative, Man’s Greatest Fear suggests that we look carefully at the way our society treats men and women. Much like an individual might uncover repressed memories on the psychologist’s couch, society can become aware of its essential conflicts. By making the subconscious conscious, on a global scale, Lister suggests we can heal the world.”
